Not maintained at all. Full-time campers have trashy sites. No kidding when I say this, FT camper was sitting outside his camper in his underwear, his wife in shorts and just a bra drinking PBR. Tried to get hold of management but they never answered the phone for 3 days. Grass had not been mowed in a couple of weeks, tree limbs everywhere, their so-called pavilion had 4 ft holes in the roof. Hard to tell where sites were because the lots were grown over by grass.

Paved, level sites and roads. Being just a mile and a half from Highway , the property was private and quiet – right on the river surrounded by forested hills. The Chetco River is right at your doorstep and there is a nice area on the edge of the campground where Riley could swim in the clear river and be off leash.
That is priceless to me. Still, it’s all paved and while it’s surrounded by nature, the individual sites don’t have much in the way of trees, grass, and privacy. There was a little bit of grass in between the gravel, but mostly not much to look at. This was just a stop-over park. We were hoping to stop at one of the beautiful state parks in the area, but they were all full. None of the commercial RV parks in the Bandon area were anything to write home about – but the state parks!

Moses’ first major public project, Jones Beach is free from housing developments and private clubs, and instead is open for the general public. When Moses’ group first surveyed Jones Island , it was swampy and only two feet 0. To create the park, huge dredgers worked day and up to midnight to bring sand from the bay bottom, eventually bringing the island to 12 feet 3.
Moses sent landscape architects to other stable Long Island beaches, who reported that a beach grass Ammophila arenaria , whose roots grew sideways in search of water, held dunes in place, forming a barrier to the wind. In the summer of , thousands of men worked on the beach planting the grass by hand. In the center of a traffic circle that he planned as a terminus for the Wantagh State Parkway , Moses ordered the construction of an Italianate -style water tower to serve as a central feature of the park.
Two large bathhouses are also prominent features within the park. After rejecting a number of submissions by architects for the bathhouses, Moses selected the designs of the young and relatively inexperienced Herbert Magoon. Moses also picked out building materials – Ohio Sandstone and Barbizon brick – two of the most expensive materials available.
