Unfortunately when they took the upper rad hose off to install the Greddy Water temp sensor and adapter into the old plastic radiator, the top pipe crumbled to pieces! This was a common occurrence among these 20 year old Skylines, it happens as a result of heat cycling over and over. So since I had been meaning to move to a new alloy rad this was as good as time as any, so I ordered up a new Koyo Performance radiator and the guys installed it with a new radiator cap as well. By this time my engine bay was starting to look pretty serious, a lot of alloy parts now. December 30, After much deliberation I finally bit the bullet and decided on a set of rims I would be really pleased to keep for a long time, it’s not that the TE37’s weren’t awesome, mine were just in a sore state being all scratched, and dinged up. My requirements before even going shopping were simple, the new rims HAD to be 18″ by at least 9″ wide, I wanted a bronze color, and something simple that would show the brakes well, it also had to be genuinely made in Japan, and forged I really like the light weight wheel designs I also definitely wanted to buy new, so I was sure the rims were in good condition. So when I found these I jumped on them! They met ALL my requirements and then some! They’re literally brand new! Never been mounted on a car before!
Thanked Times in Posts iTrader Score: I got a sunpro mechanical oil pressure gauge that i was going to put in my chevy pickup, but the one in my 91 2wd cummins sucks, so i was wondering if it would work in the cummins? The gauge is a psi mechanical sunpro gauge.

Hopefully this will makes things a bit smoother and give you a better understanding of the troubleshooting process. There is also a downloadable guide to assist you! Gauges are the eyes into the performance of our marine systems, not only do they provide us with normal operating information but can warn us of impending danger. That temperature gauge that seems to creep up a bit more on each trip to the lake may be hinting at a water pump impeller failure. But for those gauges to be useful they have to work.
Troubleshooting marine gauges is not as hard as you would think if you are equipped with the proper knowledge, so let? Many of the older boats still have the thermometer type temperature gauges, mechanical oil pressure and rpm gauges.

Post 7 of 13 views Re: Oil pressure guage blowing fuses Sign In An attempt at an analogy of resistance for a gauge: Think of the sender as a ground with varying amounts of ground available depending on the pressure it senses. Power is needed to that ground and if partial like a dimmer does to a light then a needle gauge points just as far as the amount of grounding it gets will allow. It’s measured in OHMS.

Dear Fellow Members, I hesitate to do this my hard drive is only 1gb , but I’m going to solicit advice from the collected Willys “brain trust” on this site. I finally got my 58 cj3b purchased three months ago home this past weekend. I know, I know I should be disbarred from the Willys club for waiting so long, but its a long story so don’t ask. The body is solid and straight, no cancer, very little surface rust and even has a solid tool box.
It has all it’s parts and pieces to include the original drive train and the remains of three-point hitch it had during its farm days.
Watch video · Scotty, i have a chevy camaro when i first start the car the oil gauge reads high, but after it warms up at idle the gauge needle drops well below the center line. but i get no engine rattle and the engine still runs good, when i excellerate the needle goes back up.
Please follow the post completely for details of the process. Throttle response is not delayed, I expected it to have a delay like most modern fuel injection cars do. Throttle response is as instant as a carburetor. No more high to low engine rev at startup, it starts and stays right at rpm. Best part is, I can change this with the handheld controller.
Engine has never ran this consistently cool before. I have a thermostat, usually my car would get as hot as It now stays between So far so good! Now with the process of installing… W72 shaker air cleaner clearance The first thing I did when I got home was test the FiTech with my 78 shaker air cleaner. As you can see in the pictures I did not undo the wiring around the throttle body until after the test fit.
Luckily it clears, but just. This test was without a gasket between the throttle body and air cleaner, which has given me a touch more space since I took these pictures. Test fit of FiTech in W72 air cleaner Note:

Their new Auto Cross series of gauges features a clean, easy-to-read design that gets you the information you need in as simple a way as possible. But buying a cool set of gauges is the easy part; installing them the right way is a whole other bowl of spaghetti. Classic Instruments gets lots of calls to their tech lines and most of the time bad wiring is the root cause of gauge problems.
First upgrades December 10, It wasn’t very long at all before the parts started coming in. I’d made a trip about 30 minutes east of Montreal to a very small mechanics shop to pick up some parts, Cusco Front Tension rods, Cusco Rear Upper Control arms, Samco rad hoses and Nismo Front & .
An ammeter must have all the current the vehicle uses except starter running through it to read it properly. If you connect it between the alt and batt it may only read alt output and not show discharge. Also the wire gauges specified are way too low. Fine for an older vehicle putting out 30 amps, but not most newer ones. Hence the reason for shunted type ammeters. They are also alot safer as not all that amperage is running through the vehicle.
To have it work correctly, you have to have the ammeter between the alternator and all the acc loads. If all your power wires for the vehicle are coming off of the alt then it will work fine in between the alt and battery.

To do so, the steering column must be removed or at the very least, lowered down and away from the dash, as the upper column trim sandwiches against the gauge bezel. Oct 30, · The engine had a light sensor when I got the car but the car has gauges so I changed the sensor to a gauges sensor. Now the gauge says it has good oil pressure when the oil is cold and the engine is above rpm, but when it is at idol the gauge says there is no oil pressure.
Oil gauge kit Oil gauge kit Oil temperature gauges can either be mechanical or electrical. Below is an example of each type of kit. The Lucas mechanical gauge kit consists of the gauge with capillary tube and sender unit A , and adapter nut and sealing washer B. The TIM electrical gauge kit consists of the gauge with wiring C —which may be mounted via brackets and fixing screws D or via an adhesive pad E — cable ties F , sender unit G , adapter nut H , and nut, washers and terminal connector I.
The working temperature of your engine is normally kept to an optimum level by the cooling system. But there are occasions when your engine is worked harder and reaches temperatures higher than normal. This can happen, for example, when you are towing a trailer or another vehicle, or if your engine has been tuned for higher performance. As the temperature of your engine increases, the engine oil becomes thinner and thinner.
If the engine is run above normal temperature for a long time, there is a danger that the oil may become so thin that it can no longer lubricate the moving parts of the engine properly.

Feb 07, · I got the oil pressure and water temp. hooked up fine but for the Ammeter gauge the instructions contradict themselves. The guy at the parts store today said hook one side to the positive back of my alternator and the other to my battery.
Contrary to common belief, the oil warning light has nothing to do with oil level. I get calls from people all the time who remark that their oil light is on, but they just checked the oil level with the dip stick and it was fine. That is not the way this warning system works. No VW van ever came from the factory with an oil pressure gauge or oil level indicator, just a low oil pressure warning light. The red indicator gets its positive signal from the battery through the ignition switch.
It gets its ground signal through the oil pressure switch, which is normally closed when no pressure is present. As soon as the engine starts and the oil pressure comes up, the switch opens at between 2 and 5 PSI, breaking the ground circuit to the idiot light, and it goes out. Whether the engine has one or five quarts does not matter. If there is enough oil in the engine to fill the oil filter plus around half a quart, the oil pressure will come up and stay up.
The first time you go around a curve and the oil sloshes to one side in the engine, the oil pump will suck air instead of oil, the pressure will drop, and the light will flash, sometimes without being noticed. This is not a good situation and can lead to rapid engine seizure.
June 25 6 minutes ago, Bloo said: The switch could be anywhere an oil galley appears on the outside of the engine. Is this a small block Chevy? If so, look back right next to the distributor. When you find it, turn the key on not running , and see that the light is on.
Jun 14, · Oil pressure switch only feeds voltage to fuel pump after oil pressure come up and only if fuel pump relay fails. 2 second prime up key on and then shut off is normal. Then when engine is in start or run rpm signal from VCM should turn on relay and should feed 12 volts to fuel pump.
Guages on 87 olds cutlass are not working properly. Fuel gauge sending unit- you will need to replace the fuel sending unit on your Olds. Temp guage– normally when this guage starts to malfunction, its because of a bad coolant temperature sensor. Inspect the sensor’s wires and connections. ECT engine coolant temperature sensor problems are often caused by faulty wiring or loose or corroded connections rather than the failure of the sensor itself.
If the wires or connections are bad, replace them. If you think the sensor is defective, it should be tested. This sensor is located Under hood, center, upper engine area, front of carburetor, passenger side of water outlet, mounted in intake manifold.
